What is substance use disorder (SUD)?

Drug addiction, also known as substance use disorder (SUD), is a complex, chronic disease that affects both the brain and body. Over time, drugs change the brain systems that govern reward, stress and self-control. That’s why cravings and withdrawal develop and why stopping can feel so hard.

What matters most is knowing that drug addiction is a medical condition, not a moral failing. And in many cases, it can become life-threatening. Getting the right help matters.

How we treat SUD

Our programs are designed to help you stop using safely and build the tools to stay in recovery. We provide medical detox to manage withdrawal, along with psychiatric care and therapy to address the patterns and behaviors that keep drugs in your life. This includes support for opioids and fentanyl, stimulants such as methamphetamine or cocaine, benzodiazepines and polysubstance use.

At INTEGRIS Health Arcadia Trails Center for Addiction Recovery, we treat the whole person, not just the obvious symptoms. Care is individualized, evidence-based and updated as you progress through the program.

If you are ready to talk, fill out our inquiry form or call 405-216-2500 today.
