Arcadia Trails Frequently Asked Questions

What is treatment like at Arcadia Trails?

Arcadia Trails offers a full continuum of care that includes different levels, each with different intensities and clinical milestones. These levels include detoxification, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services. The core treatment activities include group therapy, individual therapy, educational workshops, and family involvement.

How do I begin the admission process?

Arcadia Trails is committed to assuring you receive the best solution to your individual treatment needs. The admission process begins when you call and discuss your specific situation with our admissions team. A thorough screening process will help us identify the most appropriate treatment option so you can receive the help you need as quickly as possible. Learn more about our admission process.

Are there any criteria for admission?

Treatment is available at Arcadia Trails for adult women and men over the age of 18 who struggle with the use of alcohol or other substances. After assessment, the person would need to meet diagnostic criteria for a Substance Use Disorder as the primary presenting diagnosis and have physical stability as to being able to participate in all aspects of treatment and perform activities of daily living.

How much does treatment cost? What insurance do you accept?

There are many factors involved in determining the cost of treatment as everyone’s situation is different. Many people pay for their treatment through their health insurance and the coverage and benefits can vary from one plan to another. Our admissions team will verify your benefits and help determine the costs covered by insurance and the costs that would be your responsibility. We would also need to determine the appropriate level of care based on your specific needs, another factor that influences the cost of treatment.

Arcadia Trails is in-network and accepts many insurance plans. Currently, this includes Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Community Care, Health Choice, Healthcare Highways, Friday Health Plans, PHCS and the INTEGRIS Medical Health Plan. Other insurance plans are being continually included.

How long is treatment at Arcadia Trails?

Treatment services at Arcadia Trails are not defined by a specific number of days. Instead, we focus on your individualized needs, which would determine the level of care we would recommend. As progress is made in your treatment journey, you would advance to different levels of care based on your specific situation and your treatment goals.

Is ATI licensed and accredited?

All programs at Arcadia Trails are certified by the state agency that oversees alcohol and drug treatment programs, the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. At the same time, our residential program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This is an indication of our commitment to safety and quality services that can improve the lives of those we serve.

Are all your therapists credentialed?

All therapists at Arcadia Trails are master-level licensed behavioral health professionals. When admitted, you will be assigned a primary therapist to collaborate with you on your treatment. The therapists are part of a multi-disciplinary team that also includes a physician, registered nurses, certified case managers, certified peer recovery coaches and others that collaborate in delivering a holistic solution.

Can you smoke, chew tobacco, or vape?

In alignment with all state regulations and as a provider of healthcare services, Arcadia Trails is a tobacco-free campus. This means that smoking, vaping, or chewing tobacco is not permitted at Arcadia Trails. Since we are also located in the campus of a hospital, use of tobacco products is not allowed anywhere in the property. Our medical professionals can provide a variety of nicotine replacement products that include patches, lozenges, and gum. Additional services include cessation classes, counseling and support, and prescription medication.

Does Arcadia Trails provide detoxification services?

Arcadia Trails provides medical and non-medical supervised withdrawal management. Beginning with the screening process, the medical team evaluates new patients for their potential to experience substance withdrawal. Mild to moderate substance withdrawal is managed onsite by our Medical Director and highly skilled medical professionals who provide 24/7 monitoring and treatment during the detoxification process. Should a patient be at risk for severe substance withdrawal, the person is referred to our adjacent facility INTEGRIS Health Edmond which is a full-service hospital with emergency care facilities. Upon stabilization, the patient is transferred to Arcadia Trails. If you are a prospective patient or family member, feel free to ask for details about our policies and procedures regarding the detoxification process.

Can I use my cell phone/electronics? Do I have access to a phone?

Following admission to Arcadia Trails residential services, patients can contact their family through a community phone located in the residential area. Patients have access to the community phone before and after therapeutic programming. The community phone does not take incoming calls. Laptops, cell phones or tablets that have video or email capabilities are stored in our property room. With approval of the treatment team and under the supervision of staff, patients can have limited access to the preceding electronic devices to check email, make bill payments, etc., but online time is limited. Our admissions counselors can help you with more information about contacting your family while in treatment.

Can my family visit me while I am in residential treatment?

Arcadia Trails recognizes the importance of family support and involvement in your treatment; therefore, we have specific days and times devoted to family visitation. With COVID restrictions, in-person visitation can be suspended and replaced with virtual visitation. Our admissions counselors can help you with more information about visitations.

Will my family be involved in my treatment?

Arcadia Trails understands that addiction affects not only the patient but the family, as well. Family sessions are utilized to help mend fractured and strained relationships.  To further the healing process, Arcadia Trails has partnered with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to provide a unique Family Program, where patients and family members receive education, guidance, and support for lifelong recovery. The Family Program is available to anyone, even those who do not have a family member in treatment at Arcadia Trails. Due to COVID, the Family Program is offered virtually. Learn more about the Hazelden Betty Ford virtual family program.

Do I have to share a room if I admit into residential treatment?

Arcadia Trails provides semi-private rooms. On those rare occasions where there is a clinical justification for a private room, we will make every attempt to address the individual needs of the patient.

Is the treatment program co-ed? Are the genders separated?

Arcadia Trails’ residential program has separate living accommodations for men and women. However, treatment services include both co-ed and gender specific programming. Men and women can benefit from participating in treatment programming together, but there are times when gender-specific addiction treatment is more conducive to recovery. Often patients feel more at ease when discussing highly sensitive and personal issues in gender-specific treatment groups.

Is there a gym? How often can I work out?

Body health and wellness are important components for a sustained recovery. Arcadia Trails has a half gym that is equipped with a variety of indoor sports (basketball, pickleball, ping pong, volleyball, etc.). Additionally, we have a comprehensive exercise room that is furnished with treadmills, airbikes, a rowing machine, universal gym, and free-weights. Lastly, patients have access to a beautiful outdoor courtyard with a circular walking path. Patients have daily access to the preceding amenities.

How often will I get individual therapy?

Most of your counseling sessions will be conducted in a group therapy setting. Individual sessions do occur regularly with your counselor and/or various members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, depending on your initial and ongoing assessment by all treatment team members.

What are your outcomes?

Addiction treatment outcomes are typically assessed across a variety of clinical, quality of life, and behavioral domains. Arcadia Trails measures and reports substance use disorder treatment results based on patient follow-up data relating to three categories of change:

  • Length of sobriety
  • Quality of life
  • Continuing care plans

During the admissions process, patients entering Arcadia Trails are given the opportunity to sign a release allowing our staff to contact them after discharge. Patients are contacted at different intervals after transitioning out of treatment and are asked questions about their recovery progress and overall quality of life.

What happens after treatment?

Recovery is a lifelong process. At Arcadia Trails, we offer a continuum of care. Our phased approach allows patients to advance through levels of treatment at a pace based on their specific situation and clinical needs. Outpatient treatment works the same way inpatient does, with the main difference being that inpatient treatment programs are 24/7 and often begin with a supervised detoxification period while outpatient programs meet for a set number of days per week and hours per day.

Do I have to go to AA?

Many people learn to successfully address and manage the disease of addiction through 12 Step facilitation and 12 step support. Arcadia Trails attempts to meet the individual needs of patients by offering access to a variety of support groups that include Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and other support groups such as SMART, Dharma (Buddhist practices) and faith based programs, such as Refuge and Celebrate Recovery. The preceding groups provide added structure and support to your clinical services.
